Home Energy Management System Embedded with a Multi-Objective Demand Response Optimization Model to Benefit Customers and Operators

This paper proposes a Home Energy Management System (HEMS) that optimizes the load demand and distributed energy resources. The optimal demand/generation profile is presented while considering utility price signal, customer satisfaction, distribution transformer condition. electricity home considers electric vehicles (EVs), Battery Storage Systems (BESSs), all types of non-shiftable, shiftable, controllable appliances. Furthermore, PV-based renewable resources, EVs, BESSs are utilized as sources generated power during specific time intervals. In this model, customers can only perform Demand Response (DR) actions with contracts operators. A multi-objective response proposed to optimize scheduling various loads/supplies based on pricing schemes. customers’ behavior comfort level degradation cost reflects Loss-of-Life (LoL) integrated into optimization problem. Simulation results demonstrate mutual benefits HEMS provides operators by minimizing costs meeting needs LoL enhance operators’ assets. show operation peak reduced 31% 18%, respectively, along % which 28% compared case when no DR was applied.
